My Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 for PC Review

The Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner is an ideal system for reducing your desktop clutter.

The ScanSnap S1500 takes up very little desk space and supports simultaneous double-sided scanning. Its standard setting performs duplex scanning as fast as 20-25 pages per minute. The ScanSnap S1500 saves scanned documents as either JPG or TIFF files and automatically determines whether the original is either monochrome or color. The S1500 scanner can easily convert both books and magazines and your incoming mail into PDF documents that you can read and search on your PC. It is both flexible and powerful enough to scan high resolution pictures as well as your child's art projects.  

When using the page feeder, be sure to only scan paper rated 20-pound bond or higher. Also remove all staples prior to scanning, as stapled papers will not be processed and may temporarily jam the machine. Also, the page feeder is designed to handle documents and papers that are 9 inches wide or less.

There are two important downside considerations to this scanner: it doesn't include a TWAIN driver, so it can't be used in conjunction with image editing applications like Adobe Photoshop. In addition, the paper tray isn't very sturdy, so be sure you don't stack a lot of documents when scanning.

If TWAIN driver support is not essential and you typically scan documents that are 9 inches wide or less, the Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 should easily meet your needs.
